Check Your New Camera For Defects!, This is a great camera - we bought it for Christmas and took some easy to use video right after we opened it. It was easy to download the video to our home PC. We used it a few more times sporadically in the house but not for too long. In following the limited directions given, I made sure not to charge the device until the battery was running low. Everything was grand until I needed it for my daughter’s first ski lesson the first week of February. We had gotten the first low battery indication the day before, so I made sure I plugged it in to charge it. We left in a rush for the lesson and I didn’t check to see if it was charged; just assumed it was. Well, it wasn’t - and we had zero video of her lesson. I thought I must’ve done something wrong with it, so I tried charging it again. No indicator light came on or anything, but the device, as before, said “connected” but was now getting an error message for the Flip software. I removed the device after 2-3 hours and saw that the battery did not charge. I then tried my work PC, without the software loaded, and again saw it was “connected” but the battery was not charging. I first looked at the order on Amazon and, sure enough, could not return it after 1/31. Flip support was awful, giving me an email response with a troubleshooting step and then not responding after I notified them it did not work. Then, i talked with them and they told me to send it to them (I pay for shipping!) and it would take 3-6 weeks to get it back!! Angry, I contacted Amazon and explained the situation. The rep was kind enough to make an exception, since it was DOA out of the box and I rarely, if ever, return anything to Amazon (and I purchase a lot!). Here’s hoping the new one works. Flip support = bad. Amazon = Awesome.
